BIO

Lisa is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting, printmaking, collage and photography. Her studio is in Holliston, Massachusetts, and she exhibits in local museums and galleries in the Greater Boston area. Her work is held in private collections in the USA and France.

Narrative plays an important role in Lisa's art. She's a visual storyteller, and often incorporates the written word as well, writing poetry or prose with letters and words cut from old book pages, which she embeds into the work.

Recently, I decided to approach narrative from a different angle, more abstractly. Working in a medium new to me, I began a series of pour paintings inspired by mid-century book covers. I find the simplicity of the color palettes and graphic style of the cover art compelling. As for the acrylic pouring medium, its uncontrollability is liberating. Working with the medium feels more like meditation than creation with weeks spent mixing colors and building the palette, then only a daylong session ‘pouring’ the painting. Luckily, unlike a mandala, the finished product remains.
